Edge Hill Short Story Prize 2017: Irenosen Okojie shortlisted
Irenosen Okojie has been shortlisted for the Edge Hill University’s 11th annual Short Story Prize 2017 for her stand-out collection, Speak Gigantular, in a list boasting 4 independent publishers. |
This collection includes a number of provocative stories combining science fiction with everyday life, opening your eyes to the reality of 21st century culture, while forging new worlds for this reality to exist in. The mixture of sharp wit, humour and eroticism in this compilation has caught the attention of the judging panel, allowing this sizzling book to advance to the final shortlist.
The other shortlisted authors include Joanna Walsh, for her second collection Vertigo (And Other Stories), Daisy Johnson for Fen (Cape), K J Orr for Light Box (Daunt), and Lucy Caldwell for Multitudes (Faber).
Okojie will be present with her fellow shortlisted writers at the Edinburgh Book Festival on 26th August at 7pm, when the winner will be announced.
